Effect of Steam Curing on Precast Segments used as Tunnel Lining for Tunnel Bored by Shield TBM

Abstract

Accelerated curing is any method by which high early age strength is achieved in concrete. These techniques are especially useful in the prefabrication industry, wherein high early age strength enables the removal of the formwork within 24 hours, thereby reducing the time cycle, and hence resulting in cost-saving benefits. This Study discusses about Low Pressure Steam Curing on Precasted Segments used as Lining for Tunnel Bored by TBMs. A discussion about maturity concept is presented and compressive strength for water cured and steam cured cubes is compared for different pressures and temperatures of curing.
